“Hope is being able to see that there is light despite all of the darkness.” ~Desmond Tutu

Dear Yogi Friends,

I am writing to you from our little special island in the Haliburton Highlands. We are in the middle of a thunderstorm but across the lake it looks a little brighter. Hope. Hope that it will get better. Floods, political discourse, death, change or maybe a frustration at work or annoyance with a family member - it’s all there in this big beautiful life. How can we stay hopeful? I wish I had some answers for us. All I know is that we need to feel our frustration, fear, anxiety, sadness, love, joy, happiness and hold space to be in awe when we see a single beautiful sunflower in a field or see a glimmer of sunshine behind the clouds. Last week I got an inspiring newsletter from Maria Sirois sharing a story of a boy who kept a little confetti in his pocket in case of "emergency good news”. I love this idea so much! I want to be that person on alert for good news, beautiful scenery, sweet moments and be present enough to throw confetti in celebration!

I am away till the end of July but when I am back in Vermont there may be confetti in my pocket ready to be thrown at any moment!

Yoga, meditation, dancing, nature and quiet can also help us navigate this messy life. Heidi Kvasnak will be subbing for me at Adam’s Berry Farm sharing her sparkle July 18 and 25th. Also sign up for Mindful Yoga at Shelburne Museum and check out our Day of Restoration retreat in September!

In the meantime, I am spending time with my family, practicing yoga on the dock and swimming every morning with lots of peace, love, hope and a little imaginary confetti in my heart!

xo Lynn
