How Will You Choose to Cross The Bridge?
Last Monday morning I woke up so anxious about the election, the pandemic and change. I am sure I am not alone. This reading from Melody Beattie in the Journey of the Heart on that very day, really spoke to me and gave me a different perspective.
“Times of change are holy. We may not know where we're going. It may not feel like our feet are on solid ground. They aren't. We're crossing a bridge to another part of our lives.
Sometimes we may find ourselves at this bridge unwittingly, not certain how we got there, not certain we want to cross. Other times, we may have sought, prayed for, hoped for, longed for this time of change.
Drive across the bridge. You don't have to understand it all right now. Information and understanding will come later. You'll get to the other side. For now, trust and experience what you're going through.
Know that this time of change is sacred.”
~ Melody Beattie, Journey of the Heart
How do you choose to cross this bridge? Do you choose fear or anxiety? Or can you choose joy, tenderness, happiness or love? I chose JOY this past week. I danced, I practiced a lot of yoga, made political phone calls, did my anxiety mudra and cleaned. I “joyfully”cleaned ALOT! We also practiced many bridges and noticed all the bridge like shapes we make with our bodies in all my yoga classes!
Change is all around us. I want to share a bit of good news, that beginning the first week in November I am starting a NEW job! I will be Eastern Regional Manager for RUNAMOK MAPLE. As many of you know my husband is partner in this wonderful company. I am excited and scared! My yoga teaching schedule will look slightly different with only Wednesday mornings outside ending this week. I will be looking to add some Saturday outdoor pop ups as weather permits! Please rest assured that teaching yoga is a priority to me! You all keep me SANE!
In case you need to de-stress this week here is a 45 minute De-stress Gentle/Restorative Class I recorded in April. All you need is a pillow and two towels or blankets. Let’s treat this time of change as sacred together!
Thank you Leslie Richter for the beautiful covered bridge photo from Roscoe Road in Charlotte!
With love & appreciation, Lynn
PS Also this week as we centered ourselves in class we repeated, “Through my awareness of my breath, I can cross the bridge from stress to stillness. “ Try it, it works!
